According to Dr. Paul Perito, today’s man has more options for safe and effective treatment of Erectile Dysfunction (ED) than in generations past. An increase in men’s openness about health issues and recent medical advancements has opened the door for several revolutionary treatment options currently available, says Dr. Perito. Alternatives to pharmaceutical ED treatment typically offer men faster results and a more natural sexual experience. At Perito Urology in Coral Gables, Florida, Dr. Paul Perito offers patients penile implants that are safe, discreet, and have the appearance of a natural erection. |
According to Dr. Paul Perito, it has been estimated that 10% of the world’s male population suffers from Erectile Dysfunction. In the United States alone, nearly 30 million men struggle with ED and its social and emotional strains. Dr. Paul Perito has successfully treated thousands of these men since opening his practice, Perito Urology, in 2005.
There are two types of implant offered at the offices of Dr. Paul Perito.
Inflatable Penile Implants (Coloplast Titan Line)
Inflatable implants, notes Dr. Paul Perito, allow a patient’s penis to rest naturally and become firm for intercourse. Once inserted, this three-piece device works by shifting a sterile saline solution from a reservoir chamber to the functional compartment of the device by pumping. Dr. Paul Perito reports that the procedure offers a natural looking erection and does not adversely affect ejaculation. The One Touch Release Titan® OTR saline implant and the Coloplast Titan® are both self-contained units made of a durable and flexible biopolymer compound, says Dr. Paul Perito.
Malleable Implants (Coloplast Genesis)
Dr. Paul Perito also reports favorable results from patients who opt for the Genesis flexible rod implant. This implant consists of 2 rods inserted into the corpora cavernosa (the area of the penis that fills with blood during a natural erection). The rods are controlled manually, says Dr. Paul Perito, and allow either the patient or his partner to bend the penis to the desired position for intercourse and return it to a resting position when needed. As with the inflatable penile implants, Dr. Paul Perito says that ejaculation can still occur in men who were able to ejaculate prior to the procedure.
Which implant to choose is a completely personal decision, says Dr. Paul Perito. Both the inflatable and the malleable implants have a higher patient satisfaction rate than chemical or injectable treatment options and most men report a high level of sensate glands post-operatively. One advantage of the Titan OTR penile implant, notes Dr. Paul Perito, is that a patient has some level of control over the firmness of his penis. The Genesis may be considered advantageous by others for its ability to provide a constant erection. Dr. Paul Perito suggests that men educate themselves and understand what each penile implant does and does not do before committing to such a procedure.
